Sasso chickens are a specialized dual-purpose breed engineered for high performance in tropical climates. Sasso delivers impressive dual-yield efficiency. They reach a market weight of ~2.5–3 kg within 10 to 12 weeks on low-cost feed and lay 200–240 large brown eggs annually, outperforming indigenous breeds while maintaining strong shell quality. Despite their hardiness, Sasso chicks require strict heat management during brooding. Their fast early growth rate makes them vulnerable to malnutrition if dietary protein drops too low, and their higher feed intake compared to light indigenous layers increases overhead. Advantages: Sassos excel in scavenging efficiency, disease resistance, and heat tolerance. They offer faster growth than local breeds alongside firmer, tastier, and leaner meat than fast-growing commercial broilers.
